The total number of COVID-19 infections logged on Friday were 10,549. With this, as per the Union Health Ministry data, India’s total count of coronavirus cases became 3,45,44,882 (the lowest recorded figure in 546 days).
For the last fifty days, the daily positivity rate remained lower than 2%, with 0.79% being recorded last. If we talk about the weekly positivity rate, it was around 0.93%, and even this has been less than 2% since the last sixty days.

As per the Health Department, West Bengal recorded 14 deaths and 803 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 19,419.
The highest death number came from Kolkata at 5, followed by North 24 Parganas district at 4. With 676 reported recoveries, the total no. of active cases became 7,945, a drop by 75.
Talking about Maharashtra, the state recorded 8 new deaths and 656 new cases, a figure lowest in the state since April 2020, as stated by a health department official.
